I totally agree. Sorry that I came off combative before. I can definitely see how this has created an oversupply of leadership positions without a lot of easily measurable progress. I think I am with you in believing that long-term teacher based community building and consistency is going to be one of the core levers for Education reform.TFAs recruiting strategy has I think improved, but I can see how an over-reliance on ambition can lead to teachers who aren’t staying long enough. The trouble for me is thinking that there is some counterfactual group of teachers who already want to stay for the long term. I don’t think there is evidence to believe that Teach for America teachers are taking those spots away. But I see it as a very reasonable argument that maybe Teach for America should instead focus on less ambitious and more long-term applicants.
